I call it the "half-time adjustment." Conduct the following process about 1/3 or 1/2 of the way into your meeting: 

  • Stop the group. 
  • Facilitate a quick discussion on things that are going well so far in the meeting (pluses).
  • Facilitate a quick discussion on what to stop or do differently to make the meeting more effective (deltas).
  • Document your findings on a white board or flip chart.

The process will only take about a minute to complete and will give you valuable information to make a significant difference in how the remainder of the meeting is conducted.
